Wellston is served by the See also:Baltimore & Ohio See also:South-western, the Hocking Valley, the See also:Cincinnati, See also:Hamilton & See also:Dayton, and the See also:Detroit, See also:Toledo & See also:Iron-ton See also:railways, and is connected by an electric See also:line with Jackson (pop. in 1910, 5468), the county-seat, about ro m. S.W. Immediately N. of the city is See also:Lake See also:Alma See also:Park. Wellston is situated in a See also:coal and iron See also:mining See also:country; among the city's manufactures are iron and See also:cement, and in 1905 the value of the factory product was $1,384,295, 41.4% more than in 1900. The See also:municipality owns and operates its See also:water-See also:works and its electric See also:lighting plant. Wellston (named in See also:honour of See also:Harvey See also:Wells, its founder) was settled in 1871, and was chartered as a city in 1876.
