There are See also:cordite and See also:explosives See also:works, established by Messrs Kynoch of See also:Birmingham, See also:England. In 1882 an See also:act was passed providing for the improvement of the See also:harbour and for the See also:appointment of harbour commissioners. The town See also:hall and the See also:Protestant See also:church (1899) were gifts of the See also:earl of Carysfort, in whose See also:property the town is situated. There are slight ruins of an See also:ancient See also:castle of the Ormondes, demolished in 1649 by See also:Cromwell. On the 9th of See also:June 1798 the Irish insurgents, attacking the town, were defeated by the royal troops near Arklow See also:Bridge, and their See also:leader, See also:Father See also:Michael See also:Murphy, was killed.
