W. of See also:Chester by the See also:London & North-Western railway. Pop. (1901) 9760. It stands very nearly on the site of Caer Seint, See also:capital of the Segontiaci, and was fortified in 1098 by See also:Hugh See also:Lupus, See also:earl of Chester, after See also:Roman occupation, a fort, See also:baths and See also:villa, with coins and pottery, having been exhumed here. As the See also:castle was begun only in 1284, See also:Edward II., supposed to have been See also:born in its See also:Eagle See also:Tower on the extreme See also:west, can only have been born outside. The castle is an irregular oblong See also:building on the west of the town, surrounded by walls and having thirteen polygonal towers. There is still much of the town See also:wall extant. The See also:parish See also: _ To this district the Reform See also:Act added See also:Bangor. The county See also:quarter sessions and assizes are held in the town, which has a See also:separate See also:commission of the See also:peace, but no separate See also:court of quarter sessions.
