He made his first See also:appearance as a violinist at the See also:age of nine, and had the See also:advantage of studying between the ages of twelve and eighteen at See also:Stuttgart, with Wilhelm Bernhard See also:Molique. On his return to See also:England in 1853 See also:Costa got him engagements in the leading orchestras. He was a member of the Covent See also:Garden See also:opera See also:orchestra from 1855, made his debut as a See also:solo player at a See also:concert given on the 22nd of See also:April 1863 by the Musical Society of See also:London, and succeeded See also:Sainton as See also:leader at Covent Garden in 1869. He died at See also:Hampstead on the 13th of See also:July 1895. For many years he had led the ,Philharmonic orchestra and those of the See also:great provincial festivals. He published two See also:violin solos and a " Morceau de See also:salon," and was a very successful teacher.
