ETTLINGEN , a See also:town of See also:Germany, in the See also:grand-duchy of See also:Baden, on the See also:Alb, and the railway See also:Mannheim-See also:Basel, 41 m. S. of See also:Karlsruhe. Pop. (1905) 8040. It is still surrounded by old walls and ditches, and presents a See also:medieval and picturesque See also:appearance. Among its more striking edifices are an old princely See also:residence, with extensive grounds, an Evangelical and two See also:Roman See also:Catholic churches, and the buildings of a former monastery. There are also many Roman remains, notable among them the " See also:Neptune " See also:sculpture, now embedded in the See also:wall of the town-See also: See See also:Schwarz, Geschichte der Stadt Ettlingen (Carlsruhe, 1900).
