In 1700 he was ordained See also:minister of the See also:parish of See also:Ceres, and in 1710 he was recommended by the See also:synod of See also:Fife for the See also:chair of See also:theology in St Leonard's See also:College, St Andrews, to which accordingly he was appointed by See also:Queen See also:Anne. After a brief See also:term of active professorial See also:life he died from the effects of overwork in 1712.
The See also:works by which he continues to be known were all of them published after his See also:death. See also:Wesley and See also:Whitefield were accustomed to commend them to their followers.
