HELENSBURGH , a municipal and See also:

There is a station at Upper Helensburgh on the See also:West Highland railway, and from the railway See also:pier at Craigendoran there is steamer communication with Garelochhead, See also:Dunoon and other See also:pleasure resorts on the western See also:coast. In 1776 the site began to be built upon, and in 1802 the See also:town, named after See also:Lady See also:Helen, wife of See also:Sir See also:James Colquhoun of Luss, the ground landlord, was erected into a burgh of See also:barony, under a See also:provost and See also:council. The public buildings include the burgh See also:hall, municipal buildings, Hermitage. See also:schools and two hospitals. On the esplanade stands an See also:obelisk to See also:Henry See also:Bell, the See also:pioneer of See also:steam See also:navigation, who died at Helensburgh in 1830.
