Plunket showed amazing See also:diligence in furthering the cause of his See also:Church. He was in very straitened circumstances, the See also:revenue of his see being only £62 in See also:good years. The repressive See also:measures following on the Test See also:Act See also:bore hardly upon him, and in See also:December 1678 he was imprisoned in Dublin See also:Castle for six See also:weeks. Accused of a See also:share in the Irish See also:branch of the " Popish See also:Plot," he was brought to See also:London, and in See also:June 1681 arraigned in the See also:King's See also:Bench, charged with conspiring to bring a See also:French See also:army to See also:Carlingford. He made a good See also:defence, but on the absurdest of See also:evidence the See also:jury convicted him of See also:treason, and on the 1st of July he was hanged, See also:drawn and quartered at See also:Tyburn.
