It lies in the densely populated See also:district in the See also:north-See also:east of the See also:county, on the See also:river Tame, which here forms the boundary of Cheshire with See also:Lancashire. To the east the outlying hills of the See also:Peak district of See also:Derbyshire rise abruptly. The town has See also:cotton See also:weaving factories, See also:spinning See also:mills, See also:print-See also:works, See also:iron foundries and See also:machine works; also manufactures of hats and See also:margarine.
