In 1849 he was elected to the See also:National Academy of See also:Design, New See also:York, and in 1859 he was appointed a member of the See also:committee to superintend the decoration of the See also:United States Capitol at See also:Washington, D.C. After his See also:death the See also:con-tents of his studio realized at public See also:auction over $150,000. He painted landscapes more or less in the manner of the See also:Hudson See also:River School.
