KLOSTERNEUBURG , a See also:town of See also:Austria, in See also:Lower Austria, 5z m. N.W. of See also:Vienna by See also:rail. Pop. (1goo) , 11,595. It is situated on the right See also:bank of the See also:Danube, at the See also:foot of the Kahlenberg, and is divided by a small stream into an upper and a lower town. As an important See also:pioneer station Klosterneuburg has various military buildings and stores, and among the See also:schools it possesses an See also:academy of See also:wine and See also:fruit cultivation.

There is a large See also:cement factory out-See also:side the town. In See also:Roman times the See also:castle of See also:Citium stood in the region of Klosterneuburg. The town was founded by See also:Charlemagne, and received its See also:charter as a town in 1298.
