PALATKA , a See also:

city and the See also:county-seat of See also:Putnam county, See also:Florida, U.S.A., in the N.E. See also:part of the See also:state, on the W. See also:bank of the St See also:John's See also:river, about too m. from its mouth, and at the See also:head of deep-See also:water See also:navigation. Pop. (1905) 3950; (1910) 3779. Palatka is served by the See also:Georgia See also:Southern & Florida (of which it is the southern terminal), the See also:Atlantic See also:Coast See also:Line, and the Florida See also:East Coast See also:railways, and also has connexion by water with See also:Baltimore, New See also:York and See also:Boston. Palatka is situated in a See also:rich agricultural, See also:orange-growing and See also:timber region, for which it is the distributing centre. Large quantities of See also:cypress See also:lumber are shipped from Palatka. Palatka was incorporated as a See also:town in 1853, and in 1872 was chartered as a city.
