church of St See also:John, built in 1710, stands on the ruins of the old See also:castle. The See also:industries include the manufacture of musical See also:instruments, machinery, See also:colours, and carton-See also:Pierre, as well as gloves and See also:wax candles. The See also:original name of Koniggratz, one of the See also:oldest settlements in Bohemia, was Chlumec Dobroslaysky; the name Hradec, or " the Castle," was given to it when it became the seat of a See also:count, and Kralove," of the See also:queen " (Ger. Konigin), was prefixed when it became one of the See also:dower towns of the queen of Wenceslaus II., Elizabeth of See also:Poland, who lived here for See also:thirty years. It remained a dower town till 162o. Koniggratz was the first of the towns to declare for the See also:national cause during the Hussite See also:wars. White See also:Mountain (162o) a large See also:part of the See also:Protestant See also:population See also:left the See also:place. In 1639 the town was occupied for eight months by the Swedes. Several churches and convents were pulled down to make way for the fortifications erected under See also:Joseph II. The fortress was finally dismantled in 1884. Near Koniggratz took place, on the 3rd of See also:July 1866, the decisive battle (formerly called See also:Sadowa) of the Austro-Prussian See also:war (see SEVEN See also:WEEKS' WAR).
