He served in the See also:army of See also:Italy and the army of See also:Flanders in the War of the See also:Austrian See also:Succession, and was mestre de See also:camp (proprietary See also:colonel) of the See also:regiment of See also:Berry See also:cavalry at the See also:battle of See also:Fontenoy (May Io, 1745), where he was promoted brigadier. He was associated with his See also:father in his See also:work of reorganizing the army, was made inspector of cavalry and dragoons (1749), and succeeded his father as See also:master of the See also:horse (1752). He introduced See also:English horses into See also:France. He was See also:lieutenant-See also:general of Upper See also:Alsace in 1753 and See also:governor of See also:Vincennes in 1754, and served afterwards under See also:Soubise in the Seven Years' War. He was wounded at See also:Crefeld in 1758, and was promoted lieutenant-general (1759).
