In 1807 he was appointed See also:Lady See also:Margaret See also:professor of divinity at Cambridge, and lectured to large audiences on biblical See also:criticism, substituting English for the traditional Latin. Both here, and afterwards as See also:bishop of See also:Llandaff (1816) and of See also:Peterborough (1819). he stoutly opposed hymn-singing, Calvinism, See also:Roman Catholicism, and the Evangel- See obituary by Dr See also:Henry See also:Woodward (with portrait) in Geol. ical See also:movement as represented by See also:Charles See also:Simeon and the See also:Bible Society. Among his writings are Lectures on the Criticism and See also:Interpretation of the Bible (1828), A See also:Comparative View of the Churches of See also:England and See also:Rome (1814), and See also:Home Pelasgicae (1315). He died at Peterborough on the 1st of May 1839.
