Buckingham, and accompanied the French forces to See also:Italy in 1629. In the war that followed Plessis-Praslin distinguished himself in various battles and sieges in Italy, including the See also:action called the " Route de Quiers " and the celebrated four-cornered operations See also:round See also:Turin. In 164o he was made See also:governor of Turin, and in 1642 See also:lieutenant-See also:general, and after further service in Italy he was made a marshal of France (1645) and appointed second in command in See also:Catalonia. During the first War of the See also:Fronde, which See also:broke out in 1649, he assisted See also:Conde in the brief siege of See also:Paris; and in the second war, remaining loyal to the See also:queen See also:regent and the court party, he won his greatest See also:triumph in defeating See also:Turenne and the allied Spaniards and rebels at See also:Rethel (or See also:Blanc-Champ) in 165o. He then held highoffice at the court of Louis XIV., became See also:minister of See also:state in 1652, and in See also:November 1665 was created duc de Choiseul. He was concerned in some of the negotiations between Louis and See also:Charles II. of See also:England which led to the treaty of See also:Dover, and died in Paris on the 23rd of See also:December 1675.
