(189o), 3450; (1900), 5240, of whom 1161 were See also:foreign-See also:born; (1905) 6036; (1910) 5783. It is served by the See also:Chicago & See also:North-Western, the Chicago, St See also:Paul, Minneapolis & See also:Omaha, and the Minneapolis, St Paul & Sault Ste See also:Marie See also:railways. It contains the See also:mother-See also:house of the Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother. Lumbering is the most important See also:industry, and there are various manufactures. The city is situated in a See also:clover region, in which dairying is important, and See also:Guernsey and See also:Holstein-See also:Friesland See also:cattle are raised. The See also:municipality owns and operates the waterworks and the electric-See also:lighting plant.
