From 1888 she played important parts in London, at first under See also:John See also:Hare at the See also:Garrick, and in 1894 took the See also:Court See also:Theatre on her own See also:account. She also toured in See also:Australia and See also:America, playing leading parts in See also:modern plays, notably See also:Clyde See also:Fitch's Sapho (produced in London in 19o2), which was strongly objected to in New See also:York. Her powerful emotional acting, however, made a See also:great effect in some other plays, such as Carmen, in which she again appeared in America in 1906.
