The See also:church of St Botolph is of See also:Norman See also:foundation, but the See also:nave is principally Decorated and the See also:chancel Perpendicular, and the See also:tower, having fallen down, was rebuilt in 1628. The church contains a See also:brass of the 14th See also:century and other interesting monuments. The nave and chancel have undergone See also:modern restoration. Huggens See also:College, with residences for impoverished ladies, was established in 1847 by See also:John Huggens of See also:Sittingbourne. Besides chemical manufactures, there are See also:chalk, See also:lime, See also:cement and See also:brick See also:works and a See also:ship-See also:building yard. Swanscombe almost adjoins Northfleet on the south-See also:west. Its name is said to be derived from a See also:camp formed here by the Danish See also:king, Sweyn, and tradition fixes at this spot the See also:meeting between See also:William the Conqueror and the men of Kent, to whom was confirmed the See also:possession of all their See also:ancient See also:laws and privileges.
