city and the See also:county-seat of See also:Huron county, See also:Ohio, U.S.A., about 55 M. W.S.W. of See also:Cleveland. Pop. (Igoo) 7074, including 762 See also:foreign-See also:born and See also:lot negroes; (1910) 7858 It is served by the See also:Lake See also:Shore & See also:Michigan See also:Southern, and the See also:Wheeling & Lake See also:Erie See also:railways, and by interurban electric lines. It has a public library in which a small museum is maintained by the Firelands See also:Historical Society. The city is the centre of a See also:rich agricultural See also:district. Among its manufactures are See also:machine-See also:shop products (the Wheeling & Lake Erie has shops here), See also:iron and See also:steel; pianos and automobile fittings. Norwalk was settled in 18'7 and was named from Norwalk, See also:Connecticut; it was incorporated as a See also:town in 1829 and chartered as a city in 1881. Huron county and Erie county immediately N. are the westernmost of the counties created from the " Western Reserve," and comprise the " See also:Fire Lands " See also:grant made in 1792 by the See also:state of Connecticut to the See also:people of See also:Greenwich, See also:Fairfield, See also:Danbury, Ridgefield, Norwalk, New Haven, See also:East Haven and New See also:London to indemnify them for their fire losses during the See also:British expeditions in Connecticut under See also:Governor See also:Tryon in 1779 and See also:Benedict See also:Arnold in 178r. The Connecticut grantees were incorporated in 1803 as " the proprietors of the See also:half-million acres of See also:land 1 ~,... ~1. ,.t T -,__ r.
