His reputation was helped by several See also:clever if somewhat wrong-headed publications, including a satirical pamphlet entitled The See also:Theology and See also:Philosophy of See also:Cicero's Somnium Scipionis (1751), a See also:defence of the Hutchinsonians in A See also:Fair, Candid and Impartial See also:State of the See also:Case between See also:Sir See also:Isaac See also:Newton and Mr See also:Hutchinson (1753), and critiques upon See also:William See also:Law (1758) and See also:Benjamin See also:Kennicott (1760). In 1771 he published his well-known Commentary on the See also:Psalms. a See also:series of expositions based on the Messianic See also:idea. In 1776 he was chosen See also:vice-See also:chancellor of his university; in 1781 he was made See also:dean of See also:Canterbury, and in 1790 was raised to the see of See also:Norwich. He died.at See also:Bath on the 17th of See also:January 1792. His collected See also:Works were published with a Memoir by William See also:Jones in 1799.
