In 1404 See also:Charles VI. of France gave it to Charles III. of See also:Evreux, king of See also:Navarre, and erected it into a duchy in the See also:peerage of France (duche-pairic). Charles III.'s daughter, Beatrix, brought the
duchy to her See also:husband Jacques de See also:Bourbon, See also:count of La See also:Marche, and by the See also:marriage of their daughter, Eleanor, to See also:Bernard of See also:Armagnac, count of Pardiac, it passed to the house of Armagnac. After being confiscated and restored several times, the duchy reverted to the See also:French See also:crown in 1505, after the extinction of the house of Armagnac-Pardiac.
