He gave a strong support to Morton during the attack upon the latter, made a vain See also:attempt to See also:- RESCUE (in Middle Eng. rescous, from O. rescue him, and was declared guilty of high See also:treason on the 2nd of See also:June 1581. He now entered into See also:correspondence with the See also:English See also:government for an invasion of Scotland to rescue Morton, and on the latter's See also:execution in June went to See also:London, where he was welcomed by See also:Elizabeth. After the See also:raid of See also:Ruthven in 1582 See also:Angus returned to Scotland and was reconciled to See also:- JAMES
