About 1350 she went to See also:Rome; partly to obtain from the See also:pope the authorization of the neW order, partly in pursuance of her self-imposed See also:mission to elevate the moral See also:tone of the See also:age. It was not till 1370 that Pope See also:Urban V. confirmed the See also:rule of her order; but meanwhile Bridget had made herself universally beloved in Rome by her kindness and See also:good See also:works. See also:Save for occasional pilgrimages, including one to See also:Jerusalem in 1373, she remained in Rome till her See also:death on the 23rd of See also:July 1373. She was canonized in r391 by Pope See also:Boniface IX., and her feast is celebrated on the 9th of See also:October.
