In 1841 he was appointed See also:vice-See also:principal of See also:King See also:William's College, See also:Castletown, in the Isle of See also:Man, and this position he held until 1856. During this See also:period his leisure See also:time was devoted to a study of the See also:geology and See also:archaeology of the See also:island. The results were published in a classic See also:volume The Isle of Man; its See also:History, See also:Physical, Ecclesiastical, See also:Civil and Legendary (1848). In 1856 he became See also:master of King See also:Edward's grammar school at See also:Lichfield, in 1858 See also:warden and See also:professor of classical literature and geology in See also:Queen's College, See also:Birmingham, in 1862 See also:rector of Mellis, in See also:Suffolk, and in 1867 See also:vicar of St See also:John's, Bethnal See also:Green, See also:London. He died in London on the 21st of See also:September 1868.
