His See also:father, Henry Norris, was a See also:grandson of See also:Sir See also:William Norris, who commanded the royal troops against See also:Lambert See also:Simnel at the See also:battle of Stoke in 1487. Like his See also:brother See also:John (d. 1564), the See also:elder Henry Norris obtained a See also:post at the court of Henry VIII.; he gained the See also:king's favour and was rewarded with many lucrative offices. He belonged to the party which favoured the See also:elevation of See also:Anne See also:Boleyn; but in May 1536 he was arrested on the See also:charge of intriguing with her, and though he was probably See also:innocent of any serious offence he was beheaded on the 17th of May 1536.
