In 1842 he became See also:master of the rolls in Ireland, in 1846 See also:chief-See also:justice of the See also:queen's See also:bench, and in 1852 (and again in 1866) lord chancellor of Ireland. In 1856 he was made a lord justice of See also:appeal in Ireland.
