Some of the best-known are Ofen, Pullna, Saidschutz, Friedrichshall, Birmerstorff, See also:Kissingen. Two other classes of See also:waters demand a few words of See also:notice.- The See also:French have much faith in the presence of See also:minute quantities of See also:arsenic in some of their springs, and trace arsenical effects,in those who drink them, and some French authors have established a class of arsenical waters. Bourboule in See also:Auvergne is the strongest of them, and is said to contain i'-2th of a See also:grain of arseniate of soda in 7 oz. of See also:water. See also:Baden-Baden, according to See also:Bunsen's latest analysis, has a right to be considered an arsenical water. It is, however, extremely doubtful whether the small amounts of, arseniate of soda which have been detected, accompanied as they are by preponderating amounts of other salts, have any actual operation on the See also:system. The following are among the most noted springs: Bourboule, Mont See also:Dore, See also:Royat, Salies (Bigorres), Plombieres, Baden-Baden. Of See also:late years See also:lithium has been discovered in the waters of Baden-Baden; and various other places boast of the amount of that sub-stance in their springs. Indeed a new bath has been established at See also:Assmannshausen on the See also:Rhine in consequence of the See also:discovery of a weak alkaline See also:spring containing some lithium. Not very much is known of the action of lithium in See also:ordinary See also:medicine, and it undoubtedly does not exist in medicinal doses even in the strongestsprings. Among these springs are those of Baden-Baden, Assmannshausen, Elster, Royat, Ballston See also:Spa, and See also:Saratoga (U.S.). Designation and Locality. Therapeutic Application.
