Created cardinal See also:priest of St Susanna in 1344, he was employed by the See also:pope on important See also:missions, notably to negotiate See also:peace or an See also:armistice between France and See also:England. Having become bishop of See also:Ostia in 1353, he was sent next See also:year to See also:Charles IV. of See also:Germany, and induced him to come to See also:Italy to be crowned See also:emperor at See also:Rome, 1355. In 1356 he went to France to try to arrange a peace with England, and died in 1361 at the priory of Montaud near See also:Avignon.
