Tralee, anciently Traleigh, the " strand of the Leigh," owes its origin to the See also:foundation of a Dominican monastery in 1213 by See also:John Fitz-See also:Thomas, of the Geraldine See also:family. During the reign of See also:Elizabeth it was in the See also:possession of See also:Earl See also:Desmond, on whose See also:forfeiture it came into possession of the Dennys.
