N.E. of Hanover, on the See also:main Lehrte-See also:Hamburg railway. Pop. (1905) 21,400. The town has a See also:Roman See also:Catholic and five See also:Protestant churches, among the latter the town-See also:church with the See also:burial vault of the See also:dukes of See also:Luneburg-Celle. Here See also:rest the remains of See also:Sophia Dorothea, wife of the elector See also:George of Hanover, afterwards George I. of See also:England, and those of See also:Caroline See also:Matilda, the divorced wife of See also:Christian VII. of See also:Denmark and See also:sister of George III. of England, who resided here from 1772 until her See also:death in 1775.
