8 April 2006 Bezahn (Greetings), My name is Ken Lonewolf and I am the 6x great grandson of the founder of Chambersburg, Penna. I am of Shawnee-Seneca-Oneida Native American heritage from the Allegheny Valley area, near Pittsburgh. My white 6x great grandfather, Benjamin Chambers (founder), didn't particularly like Indians, since one of his family members was suppossedly killed by Indians, which may or may not have been the case, since the family member in question, simply disappeared in the woods. Old Ben built "Fort Chambers" to protect the good citizens of Falling Springs(Chambersburg) from my marauding "savage" ancestors (back then, we thought the whites to be "savage", as well)! One of his sons was Ezekial, who served in the American Revolution with the 8th Battalion of the Cumberland County Militia. He also served with the First Battalion. Ezekial Chambers, whose wife was Rebecca Stewart, is my 5x great grandfather. His daughter Margaret, married Robert Hazlett. Some of the Chambers family founded Chambersville, Penna. in Indiana County. Margaret Chambers (Hazlett), wife of Robert Hazlett, is my white 4x great grandmother from this area. Margaret was born about 1754 in America. This same year, my Shawnee ancestors helped to defeat British Lt. Col. George Washington at Fort Neccesity, wich ushered in the French and Indian War (1754-1763). Ezekial helped build either the first or second log cabin at Chambersville in 1789, along with a group of Seneca Indians. They certainly would not have been Shawnees. The Senecas were our enemies at the time, as were the Chambers family. The Chambers descendants and the Shawnee descendants only came together into "one family" in the early 1900's. The irony of history! Ken Lonewolf / Kispokotha Shawnee
