He took a decided view on the Pelagian controversy, confirming the decisions of the See also:synod of the See also:province of See also:pro-consular See also:Africa held in See also:Carthage in 416, which had been sent to him. He wrote in the same See also:year in a similar sense to the fathers of the Numidian synod of Mileve who, See also:Augustine being one of their number, had addressed him. Among his letters are one to See also:Jerome and another to See also:John, See also:bishop of See also:Jerusalem, regarding annoyances to which the first named had been subjected by the Pelagians at. See also:Bethlehem. He died on the 12th of See also:March 417, and in the Roman See also:Church is commemorated as a See also:confessor along with See also:Saints See also:Nazarius, See also:Celsus and See also:Victor, martyrs, on the 28th of See also:July. His successor was Zosimus.
