In 1577 he sailed, in command of the " See also:Gabriel," with Sir See also:Martin See also:Frobisher's second expedition for the See also:discovery of the See also:north-See also:west passage, and in the following See also:year he took See also:part as second in command in Frobisher's third expedition, his See also:ship being the " See also:Judith." He was then employed in See also:Ireland for a See also:time, but in 1582 he was put in See also:charge of an expedition which was to See also:sail See also:round the Cape of See also:Good See also:Hope to the See also:Moluccas and See also:China, his instructions being to obtain any know-ledge of the north-west passage that was possible without hindrance to his See also:trade. On this unsuccessful voyage he got no farther than See also:Brazil, and throughout he was engaged in quarrelling with his See also:officers, and especially with his See also:lieutenant, See also:William See also:Hawkins, the See also:nephew of Sir See also:John Hawkins, whom he had in irons when he arrived back in the See also:Thames. In 1583 he had command of the " See also:Mary See also:Rose," one of the See also:ships of the See also:fleet that was formed to oppose the See also:Armada. He died fifteen years after-wards.
