In 188o–1883 he again visited the ruined cities of Mexico. Charnay went to Yucatan in 1886. He elaborated a theory of Toltec migrations and considered the prehistoric Mexican to be of See also:Asiatic origin, because of observed similarities to See also:Japanese See also:architecture, See also:Chinese decoration, Malaysian See also:language and Cambodian See also:dress, &c.
