His See also:father's " See also:Political Sketches " took the See also:town by See also:storm in the days of See also:Lord See also:Grey and Lord See also:Melbourne. The son was an extremely precocious artist, and in his " See also:Home for the Holidays," done when he was twelve, and his " Comic English Histories," See also:drawn four years later, he showed extraordinary gifts of See also:humour and See also:fancy. He had no See also:art training outside his father's studio. In 1843 he joined the See also:staff of See also:Punch, See also:drawing cartoons and a vast number of illustrations, but he retired in 185o, in consequence of the attitude adopted by that See also:paper towards what was known as " the papal aggression," and especially towards the See also:pope himself. In 1854 he published his " See also:Continental Tour of See also:- BROWN
