COLLEGE , a non-sectarian institution for the higher See also:education of See also:women, about 2 M. E. of See also:Poughkeepsie, New 'See also:leek, U.S.A. It was incorporated in 1861 as Vassar See also:Female College (which was changed to Vassar College in 1867), and was named in See also:honour of its founder,' See also:Matthew Vassar, who transferred to a See also:board of trustees of his own selection about $400,000 (increased by his will to twice that amount) and the See also:tract of about 200 acres of See also:land upon which the college was built.
