After being educated at See also:Cambridge, where he gained a fellowship at Peterhouse, Fynes Moryson spent many years in travel on the See also:continent of See also:Europe, in See also:Palestine, and in See also:Asia See also:Minor. In 1600 he became secretary to See also:Sir See also:Charles See also:Blount, See also:lord-See also:deputy of See also:Ireland, in which See also:country his See also:brother, Sir See also:Richard Moryson, held an important See also:government See also:appointment. In 1617 Moryson published an See also:account of his travels and of his experiences in Ireland, where he witnessed O'See also:Neill's See also:rebellion, in a voluminous See also:work entitled An Itinerary. He died on the 12th of See also:February 163o. The Itinerary was originally intended to consist of five parts; but only three were printed, a See also:fourth being preserved in See also:manuscript in the library of Corpus Christi See also:College, See also:Oxford (partially printed in 1903 in Charles See also:Hughes's See also:Shakespeare's Europe). Another See also:part of the Itinerary was republished in 1735 with the See also:title See also:History of Ireland 1599-16o3, with a See also:short Narrative of the See also:State of the See also:Kingdom from1169; and in 1890 See also:Henry See also:Morley included in the " See also:Carisbrooke Library " a See also:volume, Ireland under See also:Elizabeth and See also:James I., de-scribed by See also:Spenser, Sir See also:John See also:Davies and Fynes Moryson. The Itinerary is a work of See also:great value to the historian as a truthful picture of the social conditions prevailing in Europe at the beginning of the 17th See also:century.
