In 1342 he became See also:captain for the king of France in See also:Brittany; then he seems to have served in the See also:household of the See also:duke of See also:Normandy, and in 1346, as one of the See also:main defenders of Calais, was taken as a prisoner to See also:England by See also:Edward III. From 1349 he holds an important See also:place in the military See also:history of France, first as captain in See also:Angouleme, and from See also:June 1351, in See also:succession to the See also:lord of See also:Beaujeu, as See also:marshal of France. In See also:March 1352 he was appointed See also:lieutenant for the king in the territory between the See also:Loire and the See also:Dordogne, in June 1353 in Normandy, and in 1355 in See also:Artois, See also:Picardy and the Boulonnais. It was Audrehem who arrested See also:Charles the See also:Bad, king of See also:Navarre, and his partisans, at the banquet given by the dauphin at See also:Rouen in 1356. Henry, See also:count of Trastamara (later Henry II. of See also:Castile), into See also:Spain. In 1365 he himself joined du Guesclin in the expedition to Spain, was taken prisoner with him by the See also:Black See also:Prince at the See also:battle of Najera (1367), and was unable to pay his See also:ransom until 1369.
