PATRICK See also:FRASER See also:TYTLER (1791-1849) Scottish historian, son of See also:Lord Woodhouselee, was See also:born at See also:Edinburgh. on the 3oth of See also:August 1791. He was called to the See also:bar in 1813; in 1816 he became See also:king's counsel in the See also:exchequer, and practised as an See also:advocate until 1832. He contributed to See also:Allison's Travels in See also:France (1815); his first See also:independent essays were papers in See also:Blackwood's See also:Magazine. His See also:great See also:work, the See also:History of See also:Scot-See also:land (1828-1843) covered the See also:period between 1249 and 1603. While occupied on this work Tytler removed to See also:London, and it was largely owing to his efforts that a See also:scheme for See also:publishing See also:state papers was carried out. Tytler was one of the founders of the See also:Bannatyne See also:Club and of the See also:English See also:Historical Society. He died at Great See also:Malvern on the 14th of See also:December 1849. His See also:life (1859) was written by his friend, See also:John W. See also:Burgon, See also:dean of See also:Chichester.
