Regarding See also:Charles See also:James See also:Fox as his See also:political See also:leader, he joined the Whigs in the See also:House of Lords, and became a member of the circle of the See also:prince of See also:Wales, afterwards See also:George IV. Having overcome some nervousness and educational defects, he began to speak in the House, and soon became one of the leading debaters in that See also:assembly. He opposed most of the See also:measures brought for-See also:ward by the See also:ministry of William See also:Pitt, and objected to the See also:grant of a See also:pension to See also:Edmund See also:Burke, an See also:action which See also:drew down upon him a scathing attack from Burke's See also:pen. Bedford was greatly interested in See also:agriculture. He established a See also:model See also:farm at See also:Woburn, and made experiments with regard to the breeding of See also:sheep. He was a member of the See also:original See also:board of agriculture, and was the first See also:president of the Smithfield See also:club. He died at Woburn on the 2nd of See also:March 1802, and was buried in the See also:family burying-See also:place at Chenies. The duke was never married, and was succeeded in the See also:title by his See also:brother, See also:John.
