Editions.—The classical edition is that of R. L. See also:Ellis, J. See also:Spedding and D. D. See also:Heath, 1st ed., 1857; 2nd ed., 187o (vols. i.-iii., philosophical writings; iv.-v., See also:translations; vi.-vii., See also:literary and professional See also:works). B. See also:Montagu's edition (17 vols., 1825–1834) is full but unscholarly. An extremely useful reprint (in one See also:volume) of the philosophical works (with a few not strictly philosophical), based on the first Ellis-Spedding edition, was published by J. M. See also:Robertson (See also:London, 19o5); besides the See also:original introductions, it contains a useful See also:summary by the editor of the various problems of See also:Bacon's See also:life and thought.

Numerous cheap editions have lately been published, e.g. in the " See also:

World's See also:Classics " (1901), and " New Universal Library " See also:series (1905) ; See also:Sidney See also:Lee, See also:English Works of See also:Francis Bacon (London, 1905). Of particular works there are numerous editions in all the See also:chief See also:languages. The following are the most important :—T. This superseded the edition of G. W. Kitchin (Oxford, 1855).
